About me
As deputy superintendent of the South Carolina Department of Education, Dr. Abbey Duggins provides leadership and strategic direction to support educational excellence across the state. Previously, she served as executive director of Teaching and Learning and as director of Early Learning and Literacy, leading key statewide initiatives to strengthen instruction and support the implementation of high-quality professional learning in the science of reading. Before joining the state agency, Abbey spent 20 years as a K–12 educator, serving as an English teacher, reading coach, school administrator, and assistant superintendent.
